Officials of Breeders' Cup Limited and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) announced today that the 2004 Breeders' Cup Stakes program will feature 113 races and distribute $7.2 million in Breeders' Cup Funds – an increase of $800,000 over last year - to existing stakes races across the United States and Canada . There are 10 races which will receive Breeders' Cup enhancements for the first time, including the Swaps Breeders' Cup Stakes at Hollywood Park .

Now in its ninth year, the Breeders' Cup Stakes program is cooperatively funded by Breeders' Cup Ltd. and 40 participating racetracks. Combined with racetrack and racing association allocations, total purses for the 2004 series will be in excess of $21 million. Last year, the program was allocated $6.4 million in Breeders' Cup Funds to 103 races.
